Movies are
of 5 categories.
There are some
movies that you read about or hear about but can’t care to remember. There are others
that sustain your interest until they reach the cinemas and then go kaput. The third
varieties are the ones that manage to drag you to the theatres only to disappoint
and make you scream and swear in anger. There are still others that you will have
a blast watching, but don’t retain much of it when you leave the cinema.
The fifth variety are the ones that you relish at the cinemas, but also carry
home the moments, ideas and cherish
later at home. This kind of cinema is not about the stars, not about the actors
or their role play. It is about the characters, the situations, their compulsions,
their joys, their sorrows, their emotions that are not just theirs but quickly become
your own. They stay with you and make you wonder what if….. ?
PARUGU belongs
to that category of Movies that just isn’t about a hero, a heroine, a villainish
father or a malicious thug. It is about the values that are ingrained, inculcated
and assimilated into our systems through generations and what happens when some
one were to move away from the righteous path. Or was it the only righteous path,
was it the right path or the perception of one. To deal with such complexities in
the simplest of contexts is what requires courage and maturity.
And both Bommarillu Bhaskar and Allu Arjun display these qualities
in a very heartening manner through PARUGU.
This was the
essence of some of the views and comments of the audience who have seen PARUGU on
the opening evening at several overseas locations in the
US
including
New Jersey
’s Multiplex Cinemas and Newark Screens.
They said they
were glad that they were not swayed by the hasty reactions to the film but decided
to rely on their own instinct and intelligence to judge the movie. They concluded
that the movie validated their judgment and no matter how you evaluate the merits
of the film, the director, screenplay etc., etc.,
At an emotional level the TAKE HOME QUOTIENT of PARUGU is 5 / 5.
