Press Release:
Godavari an endearing love story sets hearts aflutter in the USA
EDISON, New
Jersey, May 20th 2006:
Godavari,
often referred to as the Dakshin Ganga, starts as a tiny stream in
Traimbakeswar in Maharashtra and later turns into a mighty river (the second
largest in India), of about 1,450 km (900 miles) long offering unmatched
visual splendor. Now, a heart warming love story made as a Telugu film, with
this very name demonstrates the many qualities of the legendary Indian
River. The film is extolled as a very sumptuous and serene celluloid
experience in a long long time.
On Friday, Godavari arrived in the theatres of USA to a cheering audience.
Godavari
generated unanimous positive reviews without exception, from all the
websites which is a very rare occurrence. New Jersey, witnessed a total
turn out of 510 for two shows while the turnout in Virginia was 500 for one
show. - An extra show is added at 8:30PM in New Jersey. Due to the delay in
getting the prints, shows in all other centers will start only from
Saturday. In view of heavy response on the online bookings, four more shows
have been added to Chicago on Saturday and Sunday. With swelling crowds
and growing applause Godavari is
all set to achieve a place in the hearts of millions like its fabulous name
sake.

After the hugely successful ANAND, Sekhar Kammula has done it again with
Godavari and so has Kad Entertainment. Hailed by one and all as one of the
cleanest romantic tales with loads of healthy entertainment, Godavari is
termed as that welcome cool breeze in Hot summer. Just a couple of months
ago if it was the Style icon of AP Nagarjuna to cast a spell on the
audiences with his epic tale on celluloid SRI RAMADASU, now it is the turn
of his nephew Sumant to mesmerize the audiences with his soothing love
story. Three decades ago if it was ANR who first collaborated to capture the
scenic beauty of Godavari and the hearts of audiences through his film
Andala Ramudu, now its is his grandson who follows suit.
A
Never again movie experience.
True to its title Godavari is shot on location in and around Papikondalu in
the Godavari basin for 3 long months against all odds. The effort paid rich
dividends as the scenic beauty of the region, captured in a breath taking
fashion is wowed by the audiences. However if the ambitious Polavaram
project as part of the larger and ambitious Indian river linking project
goes through, this will be near certainly the last time one would see these
locations. Sekhar Kammula, the director of Godavari has gone on record
saying if the Polavaram project is implemented as planned, Papikondalu will
cease to exist and hence there can never be one more film in the same back
drop.
Kad entertainment is planning to add more shows in other centers as well.
