EDISON, New
Jersey, Feb 27th 2006:
Allu Arjun popularly known as Bunny leads
the brigade of young heroes in the Telugu film industry. He has achieved
enviable popularity with just 4 films. From the overseas market perspective,
it happened with just 3 films. Arya was the first film of Bunny to be
released theatrically. It has been observed in case of the overseas
audiences that they generally wait for a strong buzz from back home to make
up their minds to watch a new star’s films. But with his very first film
Bunny as the proponent of ONE WAY LOVE has endeared himself to the
audiences. The character of Arya was full of attitude and was just right for
Bunny. Then came the eponymous BUNNY, which proved his versatility to just
‘play to the galleries’ and he did it with gay abandon.
And
Now, HAPPY proved to be the most successful film with the overseas audiences
thus far released in the New Year. A total of 9 films have been released so far this
year in the overseas markets. In US alone, Happy has enthralled audiences so
far in 44 centers, a record hitherto matched only by the top stars and
collected the highest gross for any film in the New year so far. The film is
going to be screened in a few more centers in the coming weeks, besides
this; there has been persisting demand for re-runs in the major centers.
The New Jersey exhibitor said ‘I am very
excited; about the way HAPPY has attracted crowds to the theatres. Initially
I was not too sure, though the guys of Kad Entertainment were extremely
confident. I must concede that hence forth Allu Arjun will be considered
among the Top stars in the Regional market.’ Similar sentiments are
expressed by other exhibitors from Detroit, Atlanta and Dallas.
The music too is a big hit with audiences
in the overseas, so much so that people insisted in some centers for a
replay of songs like Chal Chal re Hyderabadi and Ossa
Re.
Representatives
of Kad entertainment who distributed Happy in US in collaboration with
Geetha Films, said they are delighted at the way the anxious audiences
unmindful of the print delays and reschedules in the opening weekend all
over US but came out applauding the movie. They connected very well with the
way Bunny essayed his role, and adored Genelia, who looked even more
beautiful this time around. Not the least the rip roaring comedy evoked by
Manoj Bajpai’s histrionics. They said they are looking forward to great
re-runs of Happy in the major centers towards mid-March.
