Annamayya
(1997) was a land mark film in the History of Telugu Cinema. Directed by K.
Raghavendra Rao, Annamayya played by Nagarjuna, was a stupendous success.
Now 9 years after Annamayya, Director K. Raghavendra Rao is set to bring to
celluloid another epic tale, that of Saint Ramadas, whose mellifluous
keertans secured a place in every Telugu House hold over several decades.
Once again Nagarjuna plays a role of
historical, religious and spiritual importance. J.K.Bharavi who won plaudits
from everyone for his meticulous research of Annamayya and later Sri
Manjunatha, has once again done monumental research about this balladeer
saint and wrote a magnificent script.
Nagarjuna, who is the style icon of
Andhra Pradesh, has also time and again shown his keen interest in playing
the characters of historic importance has said many a time that he considers
it as his good fortune to play the role of Ramadasu. He said it’s a rare
opportunity to get such roles and the moment he heard of this proposal, he
okayed it saying it’s not very often that such great films are made.
Sri Ramadasu
has 19 songs, including the keertans set to tune by M.M.Keeravani and has
Dadasaheb phalke awardee Sri. Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the role of Kabir
Das and Sneha, Archana, Nagababu in other important characters. The music of
Sri Ramadasu was released in the holy temple town of Bhadrachalam on the16th
of Jan’2006. Holy prasadam of Lord Sri Ram and the holy rice are being
distributed with every audio cd too. Such is the importance everyone is
giving to this film. Konda Krishnam Raju produces this film.
Kad Entertainment is proud to distribute
this film in association with Maruthi Movies and Vasu of Kad opined: this is
the first time we are bringing to the Telugus across the world a film of
such great cultural importance. This film is for all the old and young
generations alike, in fact even more so for the entire families. Because
general entertainment films come every now and then but this is once in a
very long time, and this time it’s happening after 9 long years. The film is
slated for Mar 30th release through out the world.
Pournami
M.S.Raju has become one of the most
successful producers, rather the man with the Midas touch in Telugu cinema
over the last few years. His films Manasantha Nuvve, Okkadu,
Varsham, Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana, have all become stupendous hits.
In fact the last mentioned film Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana, as some of the
critics mentioned, was one of the best films produced by Telugu film
industry in recent times. It was the directorial debut of India’s greatest
dancing talent Prabhudeva. He created magic. But, M.S.Raju was the man
behind that magic. He provided the gripping screenplay for the well-chiseled
drama – that became the topic of discussion both in public and in the press.
As one of the reporters opined “It’s not that he is just an experienced
producer of a neat and successful cinema but he is a 'director' within
himself. He is the true definition of a producer.”
Now after delivering three block busters
in a row for each Pongal in the last three years, with Okkadu, Varsham,
Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana, M.S.Raju is giving the finishing touches to
his forth coming Magnum opus Pournami.
Prabhudeva once again wields the megaphone. M.S.Raju once again provides the
screen play. Pournami has Prabhas fresh from the spectacular success of
Chatrapathi and heartthrob Charmme in the lead. Pournami
is salted for a 20th April 2006 release and is certain to
sway the hearts of millions of Telugus across the world.
