EDISON, New
Jersey, Dec 22nd 2005:
Jai Chiranjeeva
opened in New Jersey USA with a record crowd of 684 for the opening show
that started at around 10.30PM. Due to the overwhelming crowd, the film was
screened in three screens simultaneously. The enthusiasm and excitement of
the crowds were infectious. This in spite of the fact that due to flight
delays and more importantly the MTA strike that hit New York city badly, the
first time in 25 years, prints reached late at the theatres. People waited
patiently but eagerly to watch the film for over 5 hours from 5PM, that too
on a week day. This is amazing crowd and the film itself is value for
money, remarked some spectators after the show was over, with loads of
wholesome entertainment, Megastar’s magic, Trivikram’s razor sharp wit and
Vijaya bhaskar’s time tested direction skills.
The disgruntled
noises made by some sections in the media about the movie being little too
soft for the Megastar’s image were put to rest as the crowds lapped up the
‘Mega fare’ and relished it.
Mr. Aswini dutt, the producer of Jai Chiranjeeva and also 3 more Chiranjeevi
films in the past says that, this initial speculation by these so-called
trade pundits was always beyond him. An earlier Megastar film produced by
Vyjayanthi Movies, back in the late eighties Jagadeka Veerudu - Athiloka
Sundari also had similar initial responses from trade and media, about
the film being ‘good’, but ‘soft’ for the Megastar. That proved to be a
mighty hit. Even during the release, cyclone was ravaging several towns in
AP, but Megastar‘s appeal got the better of the wild storm and people
thronged the theatres as if there is no tomorrow. Then Choodalani Undi
another mega hit, directed by Gunasekhar also initially met with skeptical
remarks like the title was too soft didn’t cut much ice with the audiences
as they just loved the Megastar.
